A Jam-Packed Jubilee Weekend

Residents Sat Around a Table Outside

At Springvale Care Home in Lennoxtown, celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee started on the evening of the 31st of May when we started to decorate the home in readiness with an abundance of bunting, flags, and even our own visit from the Queen. We started the celebrations as we meant to go on and we were definitely in full party mode for the Jubilee weekend!

On the 1st of June, the residents enjoyed some Jubilee-themed arts and crafts as well as a quiz, which tested their general knowledge of the Queen. In the afternoon, we made some beautiful crown biscuits which were later decorated in readiness for the days of celebrations ahead. We also had our raffle running with some amazing prizes kindly donated by relatives, friends, team members, and local businesses, with all proceeds going to the Residents Fund for more great activities.

Thursday and Friday morning were all about getting ourselves looking our very best in preparation for the Jubilee Party, which we were delighted to host on Friday 3rd of June. All residents were able to enjoy a visit to our own hair and beauty salon and nail treatments were available followed by a lovely cup of tea in the garden sunshine.

Friday Afternoon at 2 pm, we opened our Jubilee Party for all the staff, residents and their loved ones.  There was plenty going on with a BBQ, cake stall, DJ entertainment, and some dancing from the lovely wee Anna. The atmosphere was amazing, it was so lovely to see everyone smiling, dancing and singing, and ultimately enjoying the afternoon.  We are so grateful for everyone’s support of our raffle and have raised in excess of £820, something we are extremely thankful for.

Saturday the fun continued when we had a visit from a local Lennoxtown dance school, KDC.  The children put on such a beautiful show which was greatly enjoyed by many of our residents with happy tears shed as it brought back such happy, fond memories.

Sunday was a day to relax in the beautiful gardens at our residential home in East Dunbartonshire and enjoy dining outside in the glorious sunshine and watching the Jubilee pageant.

Once again, we would like to thank everyone for their support during our Jubilee events. It was great to be able to celebrate this momentous event together and to create such happy memories.
