Celebrating Christmas and New Year at Springvale Care Home
At Springvale Care Home, we had a fabulous time this Christmas. December was packed with fun activities, including a mix of exciting outings, memorable events, and creative in-house entertainment, we ensured the festive period was as special as it could be for our residents, families, and staff.
One of the highlights was our Christmas Party, held at the local church hall. It was a wonderful occasion, brought to life by the fantastic catering of Ross and Suzanne, whose buffet was as delicious as ever. To add to the excitement, we were joined by Alan Parker Music, who got the party started with a lively mix of music and entertainment. Residents and their loved ones came together to share in the festivities, creating moments of laughter and connection that will be cherished for a long time.
The theatre played a big part in our December celebrations. Thanks to Geez A Break Productions, we were able to bring a Christmas Pantomime right to Springvale, filling our home with laughter and cheer. Beyond that, we also supported our residents to attend a variety of pantomimes across Glasgow, including Peter Pan at The King's and Theatre Royal and Rumpelstiltskin at Platform Glasgow Theatre. Residents especially loved the meet-and-greets with the cast afterwards—these moments brought an extra layer of magic to the experience.
Closer to home, we hosted an outdoor Christmas Fayre, inviting families and friends to join us for a day of festive fun. Stalls, seasonal treats, and a warm sense of community made the day truly memorable. On Christmas Day itself, our beautifully decorated dining room became the perfect setting for a traditional Christmas lunch, complete with crackers, party hats, and all the trimmings. Residents gathered together to enjoy delicious food and festive music, sharing the spirit of the season with those around them.
As the year came to a close, the New Year’s Eve celebrations were a resounding success. Staff and residents alike embraced the fun with props, photo booths, and party games, making sure everyone could ring in the new year with joy and laughter. The photos taken during these celebrations capture the happiness on everyone’s faces, from residents dressed up in fun glasses and crowns to staff sharing the festive cheer.
Throughout the month, the aim was simple: to make the festive period as meaningful and enjoyable as possible. By combining special outings, visits from family and friends, and thoughtfully planned in-home activities, we created opportunities for our residents to feel connected, celebrated, and part of the wider community.
