Festive Fun and Looking Ahead to 2021
We know Christmas is like a distant memory, but we had so much fun at Springvale during December that we wanted to share some of what we have been up to as well as let you know about a few things we have planned.
In December we invited the relatives of residents, past and present, to write a message for their loved one. This was placed on a wooden bauble which was then put on one of the illuminated trees outside the front door.
The tree quickly became decorated with heartfelt festive wishes and messages from those who couldn’t visit due to the restrictions. It looked fabulous – even if we do say so ourselves!
Our residents also had an absolute ball posing with ‘photo booth’ props. Some of the photos were used to make Christmas cards for friends and families – a welcome addition to the mantlepiece for many.
So, what’s next?
For Burns Night, we will be reading poetry by Robert Burns, taking part in a truly Scottish quiz, enjoying some Scottish dancing, and of course having haggis, neeps and tatties for our evening meal. It will be a celebration of all things Scots – we’ve even got some haggis, neeps and tattie crisps to sample!
Valentine’s Day will be celebrated by residents sending e-messages to their loved ones and creating some artwork to go alongside their affectionate words. Residents will also enjoy dipping strawberries in melted chocolate while remembering songs that were special to them and their families/ husbands/ wives with a romantic singalong.
Every day is different at Springvale, even in these challenging times. Our team work hard to offer plenty of opportunity for engaging chat, lots of laughter and an abundance of special memories.
