Our Valentines Themed Night
Staff at Springvale Care Home started the Valentine's celebrations early by decorating parts of the home with large helium silver and red heart-shaped balloons, banners, confetti as well as beautiful pink and red flowers. Our chefs prepared a Valentine's themed menu and hosted a restaurant themed night for the couples of the home.
The couples of Springvale also shared their love stories of how they met which was a truly special moment. We had the pleasure of learning about Mary and Jimmy met. Mary said she and Jimmy met when she was 18 he was a bus driver and so was she. Jimmy was very keen at the start but Mary wasn't so sure. She soon fell for Jimmy and described him as a "cheeky chappy". The couple is soon to celebrate 60 years of marriage and we couldn't bet happier for them.
We also learned about the love story of Grace and Walter. Grace met Walter when she was 17 and he was 23. Grace was working at Broomhill hospital as a Nursing Auxillary and Walter was training to be a mental health Nurse. Walter wrote to Grace often during his special service and their love blossomed. On his return Walter asked Grace to marry him where they had a large wedding and went on to have three children. The couple will be celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary this April. Congratulations to them both.
The ladies of the home took advantage of the amenities on offer and experienced a well-deserved pre-valentines pamper at our Hair & Beauty Salon. Hilary, one of our previous Activity Coordinators had retired from her role last year but has decided to come back for a few hours a week to volunteer with a pamper service.
Some residents had their nails manicured and painted, and others had their hair cut, washed, and blowdried. The residents loved their looks and left the salon feeling their best.
We want to thank all of the Springvale staff for making Valentine's Day a day to remember for our residents.
