Embracing the Outdoors: Honouring Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

Residents on Canal Trip

In aid of Alzheimer's month and to raise funds for our residents, the residents at Springvale care home near Glasgow have been going on three outings per week over the last month and have enjoyed many canal cruises, as well as a trip to the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall for a dementia friendly concert. Residents are also looking forward to an upcoming trip to the cinema this Friday for a dementia interactive showing of Grease.

Residents thoroughly enjoyed the canal trip looking at the sights and animals in nature, which was a lovely change in scenery for them despite the cloudy weather!

These activities were aimed specifically at those living with dementia and how we could meet all of their sensory needs whilst providing activities that were outcome-focused.

Staff who completed the sponsored walk for our residents have raised almost £3000 for our resident fund. We are extremely proud of them and this will allow us to continue to do amazing things to support those living at Springvale Care Home.
