St Andrew’s Day Celebrations

As a care home situated in Lennoxtown, just half an hour from Glasgow, we thought it was only right to celebrate our Scottish roots this St Andrew’s Day.

St Andrew's Day, also known as The Feast of Saint Andrews is an annual celebratory day of the patron saint of Scotland, Andrew the Apostle. Celebrated each year on the 30th of November, those all across Scotland spend the national holiday recognising and appreciating all things Scottish.

That's exactly what we did at Springvale Care Home; we celebrated being proud of our Scottish heritage with entertainment and a delicious meal prepared by our in-house Chefs.

Our home was decorated with Scottish flag bunting and we welcomed entertainer, Tommy the Piper, who performed traditional Scottish music on the bagpipes. Our residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed listening to the music and talking about what makes Scotland special to them.

We then ended the day with a classic Scottish meal of haggis neeps, tatties, and Balmoral chicken with sprouts and mash. This was washed down with an Irn Bru and shortbread.

At Springvale Care Home near Glasgow, we understand that there are many occasions throughout the year that are important to our residents. As well as providing stimulating and encouraging activities all year round, we also go to great lengths to hold events and themed days that hold special memories for our residents.

These events are great for reminiscence, and they also encourage residents to make new memories with each other as well as with staff and their loved ones. It is important to us that we provide residents with an active, social and enriched lifestyle.
